The Korean Cultural Center in Sweden (Koreanskt Kulturcenter, KKC) warmly invites you to a special talk by Lee Geum-yi, one of Korea’s most beloved and acclaimed authors of children’s and youth literature.

Since her debut in 1984, Lee Geum-yi has written many heartfelt and meaningful stories. Her books are widely read across age groups, have received numerous literary awards in Korea, and are featured in school textbooks. In 2024, she was named a finalist for the Hans Christian Andersen Award (HCAA) in the writing category—often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of children’s literature.

Over the years, Lee has expanded her storytelling from fairy tales to youth fiction and historical novels. In this talk, she will explore the lives of young Korean women who left their homeland during the Japanese colonial era. Through her works, she brings their stories of hardship, resilience, and hope to life.
