1930s Korea, in the period of Japanese occupation, Sookee is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress Hideko who lives a secluded life on a large countryside estate with her domineering Uncle Kouzuki. But the maid has a secret.

The Korean Cultural Center Sweden has teamed up with Asiatiska Filmfestivalen to bring six films from South Korea.

THE HANDMAIDEN (2016) will be screened as a part of the Korean Film Weekend during the Asian Film Festival.
